המונים עלו על קברה של הרבנית
בסביבות ה'אוהל הק' ניכרת במשך הימים הסמוכים לכ"ב שבט תכונה מיוחדת, אלפי אנשים מניו יורק ומערי השדה הגיעו אל הציון הק'. בתי ספר שלמים עם הצוות המלא באו עם אוטובוסים מאורגנים להשתטחות ולתפלה על ציון הרבנית.

The Correct Belief

We all believe together with all other Jews that the coming of Moshiach is imminent and we await his arrival daily.
The Rebbe had renewed the cause of preparing the world for the coming of Moshiach, by dispersing Torah and Mitzvot in all far corners of the World and encouraging even non-Jews to fulfill the 7 Noachide laws.
The Rebbe had never instructed us in investigating the identity of Moshiach (or his wife, as you ask). As a matter of fact, the Rambam rules that no one really knows how or what will occur upon the arrival of Moshiach.
What we do know however, is, as above, that our destiny is to prepare for Moshiach, by following the Rebbes precise teachings and instructions. All other speculations about Moshiach are totally irrelevant.

Thank you for your prompt response. I truly apppreciate it. Though, I still do wonder why there has laways been this pipe that Lubavitch beliedes their rabbi to be the messiah? Is this contrary to jewis belief? If so then why did it seem to be the mainstream belief in chabad movement 10 years ago when I lived near NY??

Regarding your question:
Lubavitchers believe in moshiach just like all other Jews. Ten years ago everyone hoped to merit to witness the Rebbe as Moshiach here in a material body, but unfortunately we haven't (and many would add the word 'yet' to this). In previous generations many chassidim would think of and regard their Rebbe as a potential moshiach. King David was considered the 'moshiach hashem'. We all would love to merit to see the Rebbe back in a material body redeeming the Jewish nation. However, no one has the authority to say anything definate about this for the mere reason that no one really knows how, when and where this will happen. No matter who tells you they are certain, it is pretty much evident that know one really knows details about this as I mentioned, if someone as scholarly as the Rambam said, 'we cannot know until these things will occur' , I daresay, no one in this day and age can aspire to know (who the Moshiach is etc.). Bottom point, we should concentrate on what we CAN know , study Torah, chassidus, do mitsvos and make this world a place more fitting for the arrival of Moshiach.
